Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 450. Pruney is a 6-year-old likely Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix with the sweetest, softest soul. After surviving a hard start to life in a junkyard, this little girl was understandably scared of the world. But once she found safety, her true personality bloomed — and it’s nothing but pure affection. Pruney is a quiet, low-energy, even-tempered lap dog who lives for comfort and closeness. She adores cozy blankets, soft beds, and being right by her person’s side. She’s crate trained and loves her kennel, happily going in on her own — it’s her safe place. If given the chance, she’d be thrilled to sleep in bed with her human, too. She may be shy when first meeting new people, but give her just a couple of minutes and she’ll warm up beautifully. Pruney is gentle, affectionate, and deeply loyal — the kind of dog who misses her person when they’re out of sight and lights up when they return. She gets along well with other dogs but would also be perfectly happy as an only pup, soaking up all the love for herself. Pruney is potty trained, has basic training, and is wonderfully quiet. Toys don’t interest her much, but food certainly does — she’ll gladly remind you when it’s mealtime! She loves both men and women and truly thrives in a calm, predictable environment. Pruney would do best in a peaceful, loving home where she can enjoy full meals, soft beds, and the warm lap she’s waited so long for. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion with a huge heart in a tiny body, Pruney may be your perfect match. Pruney is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
