Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky / Mixed (medium coat). Felix (A134781) is a 3-year-old German Shepherd x Husky mix who weighed 60 pounds on intake! 01/08/26 Felix, previously known as Indie, is back at the shelter and looking for his new place to call home! While at the shelter, Felix has proven that he has spunk! He is quite the puller and wants to go, go, go! Information from previous homes state that Felix is an escape artist and is known to jump fences. We would not put this past him. He should always be on a leash, secure tie-out, or supervised when in a fenced in yard. Felix is an extreme puller on a leash and would highly benefit from working with a certified trainer. We also wonder if he missed his calling for running on a rec sled dog team or learning the art of skijoring or bikejoring in the summer months! He is also very playful and has found joy in playing fetch with the care staff! It was noted in a prior home that he was housebroken, but at the shelter, we have found that he has consistently had accidents in his kennel, so he may need some reminders with potty training as he settles in. Felix is a bit of a handful but has a loving spirit. If you are up for the challenge and are interested in meeting him, please let us know! 08/20/25 Indie was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own. He was described as a very loving dog who loves to cuddle! In his last home, Indie was said to do well with people of all ages including babies and children! He was also said to do well with other dogs and cats. Please ensure you are making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new potential friends to help set him up for success. Indie does have the basics down and was said to be kennel trained, housebroken, rides well in a car, and knows his basic commands. He does, however, still have a few naughty habits like getting into the trash, digging/chewing, and jumping on people/counters. Indie was also known to jump over fences if given the opportunity. He should always be on a leash, secure tie-out, or supervised when in a fenced-in yard. On arrival at the shelter we did find that Indie had an ear infection and was treated by the shelter vet. It was also recommended that he remain on a limited-ingredient diet to help with the prevention of future ear infections. Indie is also looking for an active home that can keep him happy and out of trouble! If you are interested in meeting Indie, please let us know! 05/29/24 This goofy boy is Indie! Indie is an absolute sweetheart, but he does suffer from anxiety. He always wants his people to be with him, and if left alone, he is known to be destructive. Indie is not kennel trained, but we highly encourage his next owner to make him comfortable with the kennel and reach out to a certified trainer to continue working on his manners. Indie was said to be housebroken and knows the basic commands of sit and come. Indie is an active dog looking for his next adventure buddy and a bonus â he rides well in a car! Historically he does well with children, strangers, and adults. He was also said to do well with dogs and to be curious of cats. Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with all new animals. Indieâs curiosity may get him into trouble! Overall, Indie is a happy pup looking for an owner with the time and devotion to continue with his care! If you are interested in meeting him, please let us know!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
