Description

Dog Breed: Husky (short coat). Moose (A140815) is a 2-year-old husky who weighed nearly 60 lbs at intake! 01/10/26 This sweet and affectionate young man is Moose! Moose was very reluctantly brought to the shelter due to a culmination of reasons, none of which are really Moose's fault. Moose is looking for a home without small children because they stress him out. He was said to do well with older children. Moose does not have much experience with other dogs. He was described as being indifferent toward them. We highly encourage slow and controlled introductions, as well as educating yourself on dog body language and proper introduction techniques. Moose was said to do well around cats. He was said to be kennel trained and housebroken and to generally mind well. Moose has been known to jump on people. He sometimes gets nervous and will jump up for reassurance. He was described as being the sweetest cuddle buddy! If you are interested in adding Moose to your home, please give us a call!

Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
