Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Luna!! Luna is a 6 year old black and brown Hound mix. Luna is spayed and fully up to date on all vetting. Luna was surrendered to our rescue by her previous owner along with her son, Groot due to the owner moving and not being able to have animals at the new house. She is a very friendly girl and seems to get along very well with any person she has come into contact with and seems to not mind smaller dogs being around her at all but may need to be kept separate from other large dogs as she seems to be territorial when they are around. Luna is completely house trained as well. She loves to play with rope toys and any kind of balls and is a master at fetch! If you are interested in Luna girl, please visit Richardsonrescue and fill out our adoption application to possibly bring this fur baby home into your family!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
