This medium-energy pup loves people and being petted, and she's always up for an adventure or happy to rest quietly by your side. Daisy takes cues from her people and other dogs very well and would thrive in a home ready to provide her with structure and consistency. Daisy greets new dogs with tail wags and playful energy. She loves to play and romp once she gets to know her canine friends, and she appreciates polite greetings when making new four-legged pals. She's been a shelter favorite and has done great with the many dogs she's met. Daisy would do well with or without another pup in the home. She is curious about cats and has been around dog-savvy cats who give her space. Her gentle, playful nature will likely do well with children in the home. Daisy has been walked by high school volunteers who all love her! She takes treats gently and is always ready for playtime in the yard or a good sniffing walk around the neighborhood. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
