Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. I rescued Kato about 3 months ago. His previous owner abandoned him. He was emaciated and showed signs of abuse. For the last 3 months I have shown him love and he is healthy again. He is a 10month old puppy and loves to play. At this time Kato is not a good fit for my home, because my older do is possessive and has shown to be a one dog home. Kato is afraid of men, and at some point i believe that he was abused by a man. He would make a great addition to someone who understands abused animals and has the patience to deal with some aggression. He has never bitten me, but he will growl and communicate his opinion. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations. His idea home would preferably be with no dog or one that has the patience to deal with all of his puppy energy. **** Breed: Pitbull mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2192905&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
