Addie #2 | 9-month-old mixed breed | Bouncy sweetheart with puppy energy Addie is a 9-month-old mixed-breed girl weighing about 20 pounds, with a tan coat and a fun, playful personality. She’s sweet, affectionate, and loves to cuddle once she’s comfortable. She can be a little nervous with new people at first but warms up quickly with patience, pets, and treats. She’s almost fully house trained and very close, though a few accidents can still happen, especially in a new environment. Addie signals that she needs to go out by standing at the door and even bumping her nose on the handle. On leash, she’s doing fairly well but is still working on pulling and her strong urge to chase squirrels and other small animals. Addie can be left alone for four to six hours and generally settles after some initial whining. Crate training is still a work in progress—she’ll choose to rest in her crate but gets upset when the door is closed, though she does calm down after about ten minutes. She does well when left loose in the house. She hasn’t met other dogs up close yet but shows playful interest, and the shelter reports she does well with dogs. Due to her prey drive, a home without cats is likely best. She knows basic commands like sit, down, leave it, and drop it, but consistency is key—she’s smart and a bit stubborn. Addie has medium-to-high energy and loves fetch, toys, chewies, and longer walks, but she can also relax and nap during the day. Her ideal home is with someone active, patient, and committed to continuing her training, who can give her the structure and exercise she needs to thrive. Breed overview
Overview:
The Chipin, a lively cross between the Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher, originated in the United States as a designer breed. These small yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 5-10 pounds, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors like black, tan, chocolate, and fawn. Physically, they often inherit the Chihuahua’s apple-shaped head or the Miniature Pinscher’s sleek build, with expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Chipins are known for being affectionate, energetic, and surprisingly courageous, often displaying a "big dog" personality in a small package. They can be excellent companions for individuals or families with older children, and their compact size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise. While generally healthy, potential health concerns include patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart conditions, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial for a well-adjusted Chipin.
