Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Edmund (A565970) is a sweet old soul with a surprising pep in his step. At 13 years young, heâs still ready to head out for a walk and enjoy the world around him. Edmund is deaf, which is a gentle reminder of how much we rely on our voicesâbut he makes up for it by being incredibly engaged with his handler and very tuned in visually. He is extremely food motivated (no shame there!)âso much so that he caught a whiff of treats in my pocket and I had to negotiate a trade to get them back. Treats are clearly the way to his heart and make communicating with him easy and fun. Shelter staff shared that Edmund does have a microchip, but sadly his owner never came for him. Despite that heartbreak, Edmund remains loving, eager, and full of quiet joy. He looks fantastic for his age and would truly thrive in a calm home where he can enjoy comfort, routine, and companionship. This sweet senior really deserves a soft place to land and someone who will cherish him for his golden years. ?? IG: .instagram/reels/DTtuFbckdYZ/ FB: .facebook/reel/2992337474300963

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
