Description
Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed. Available for Adoption – Meet Tyke! Tyke is a sweet, happy puppy who is ready for his forever home. He was found as a stray and initially displayed some neurological symptoms, including clockwise spinning, a slight head tilt to the right, an unsteady gait (which has improved), and mild head bobbing when looking up. Tyke has received thorough veterinary care: 1st vet visit: 4DX test (negative), fecal test (negative) 2nd vet visit: Bloodwork (normal), Valley Fever test (negative) Neurology appointment (1/21): The neurologist explained that his symptoms are likely due to one of the following: 1. Hypoxia at birth 2. A possible congenital defect 3. A possible after birth injury The good news? Tyke is stable, healthy, and cleared for adoption. Despite his quirks, Tyke is an absolute joy. He is fun, funny, playful, and incredibly loving. He races around the yard playing with his friends, who have learned and adapted to his unique movements. While Tyke does tend to move in clockwise circles, he can run in a straight line that may end in a circle. His quirks become a bit more noticeable when he’s excited. Tyke is vocal during playtime and when excited—he growls and grumbles as part of his playful communication. He may gently grab your hand with his paws to steady himself when reaching your lap, and he loves playing with moving feet (we’re working on discouraging that so no one trips). Personality highlights: Sweet, friendly, and affectionate, easygoing and gentle, loves everyone he meets, well-mannered, well-behaved, and obedient. He is eager to learn and explore, can entertain himself, loves being held and cuddled. Tyke truly is a gem with a heart full of love and happiness. He’s looking for a compassionate home that will embrace his quirks and adore him for the special boy he is. Tyke is ready to bring joy, laughter, and endless love to his forever family. Tyke is now neutered, Microchipped, UTD on all vaccinations, had a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), deworming, and a fecal test. Adopters will receive all original paperwork, a 14-day health guarantee, a collar, harness, leash, seatbelt lock, and a week's worth of food. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are by appointment only. We are located in Mesa near Gilbert/Brown & offer flexible hours for meet-and-greet appointments. Breed overview
Overview:
The Chipin, a lively cross between the Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher, originated in the United States as a designer breed. These small yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 5-10 pounds, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors like black, tan, chocolate, and fawn. Physically, they often inherit the Chihuahua’s apple-shaped head or the Miniature Pinscher’s sleek build, with expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Chipins are known for being affectionate, energetic, and surprisingly courageous, often displaying a "big dog" personality in a small package. They can be excellent companions for individuals or families with older children, and their compact size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise. While generally healthy, potential health concerns include patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart conditions, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial for a well-adjusted Chipin.
