If you wanted to go on a walk so he could check on the neighborhood and take in a few smells along the way, he would love that too. Ozzy is submissive, sweet, and gentle; he takes a few minutes to warm up to you , then he’s all yours. He is low energy and would love a family of his own. Ozzy enjoys the company of other dogs and playing with them. He has not been around cats yet, but would most likely coexist fine with them. He has spent time with kids and enjoyed being with them. Ozzy has been in an outdoor facility before coming north, so he hasn’t had a chance to show whether he is house trained. He will need a patient family to adjust to being in a home environment and learn what is expected of him. He has only been on a leash briefly, but he is eager to please, so is sure to adjust well. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
