Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Please note this dog is NOT an official Underdog dog, and you will be connected with the person who has the dog. Please Contact Kelly, 480-242-9694, kellylynlyonsgmail: MEET BISCUIT #3!! Biscuit's owner recently entered assisted living, so he is looking for a new home. He has a permanent leg injury and walks on three legs but gets around well and enjoys leisurely walks. He is affectionate, sweet and well-behaved much of the time, especially in a calm, predictable environment. He does have some anxiety and can become defensive if startled, pressured, or rushed. Because of this, he is best suited for an adult-only home with prior small dog or special needs experience. Potty training is an ongoing challenge, so he will need some work with that. He strongly resists being forced to potty outside and may growl or snap if pressured. Walks work better for him than traditional potty trips, and he may require ongoing management (belly band/diaper or pee pads). He has daily accidents at this time. Biscuit is looking for a safe, calm, and quiet home to live out the next part of his life. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
