Description
Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Snookie and Tiki are a truly special bonded pair looking for a soft place to land together. Snookie, a black Min Pin mix, and her lifelong sister Tiki, a white-and-brown Chihuahua, are both 16-year-old little angels who have never known life apart. Tiki lovingly keeps watch over Snookie and even helps guide her as she navigates the world with age-related cataracts—a quiet, beautiful bond that speaks volumes about their devotion to one another. These sweet girls came to us after their elderly owner passed away, and both sadly found themselves in a shelter. Thankfully, the shelter reached out to us knowing they would struggle in a kennel environment. And they were right—Snookie and Tiki truly thrive in a home where they can receive lots of love, comfort, and companionship. Both girls are housebroken, friendly, and happiest when they’re close to their people. Snookie is a champion cuddler who loves to be held and will gently rest her head on your arm while sitting in your lap. Tiki enjoys being wrapped up snugly in a blanket like a taco before settling in to nest near you on the couch. Despite being 16 years old, both have received thorough veterinary care. They are spayed, vaccinated, and healthy, with complete bloodwork and recent dental cleanings (Snookie has 5 teeth remaining and Tiki has 4). They do require daily pain medication to manage arthritis and keep them comfortable in their golden years, and Tyson’s Place can assist with the cost of this medication. If you have room in your heart and home for these devoted seniors, please email tysonsplacerescuegmail or fill out an adoption application here (scroll to the bottom of the page): tysonsplacerescue/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt Keeping Snookie and Tiki together would mean everything to them—and would give you the immeasurable joy of loving two very grateful little souls.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chipin, a lively cross between the Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher, originated in the United States as a designer breed. These small yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 5-10 pounds, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors like black, tan, chocolate, and fawn. Physically, they often inherit the Chihuahua’s apple-shaped head or the Miniature Pinscher’s sleek build, with expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Chipins are known for being affectionate, energetic, and surprisingly courageous, often displaying a "big dog" personality in a small package. They can be excellent companions for individuals or families with older children, and their compact size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise. While generally healthy, potential health concerns include patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart conditions, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial for a well-adjusted Chipin.
