Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Scooter! An adorable, almost two-year-old German Shepherd that’s full of energy and love. With his bright eyes and wagging tail, he's always ready to explore the world around him! Scooter loves belly rubs, treats, and kisses, and can't resist curling up on your lap for some quality cuddle time. He likes his people and is a very sociable dog who wants to say hi to everyone he meets. He's now doing leash training and keeps working on commands, which is helping him channel his excitement. He knows “sit”, “come”, `shake`, `leave it`. He likes greeting with a paw on the command `saluda` and he’s working on “stay.” He had two incredible weeks of training at a boarding facility, where he worked on his social skills and how to be a great companion in public places (see video below `Have you Meet Scooter yet?). He is also learning commands in Spanish, SI! SCOOTER ES BILINGUE. He's crate and potty trained (2 to 4 hours max for now), gets along great with children and elders, and is an excellent office companion. His advocated shared that he'd stay in his bed while you work but also remind you to take breaks to enjoy the sun or eat lunch. The ideal match for Scooter would be an experienced owner, who can read his cues and understand when he needs space and when he needs guidance. Someone patient who can guide him, offer consistency, and provide lots of love to help build his confidence. He could possibly live with other dogs if someone is willing to work with him, or he’d be just as happy soaking up all the love in a home of his own. If you're looking for a playful companion who will fill your days with joy and love, Scooter is the dog for you! Give him the chance to be your friend forever. Email advocatessbcasgmail or text 805 441 7367 for more info and his advocate will contact you.

German Shepherd Dog

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
