Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: No Good with kids: Unknown, likely yes Crate trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Drip is a playful and adventurous girl who would love a family who will provide her with the structure she needs to live her best life. She plays hard but happily settles down at the end of the day. Drip is always excited to see other dogs and leaps straight in to playtime. She would do best with a dog who matches her energy level and play style. She is a little too interested in cats, so would ideally not have a feline sibling in the home. She has not been around kids yet, but would likely get along well with them. She enjoys playing with any ball or squeaky toy, but stuffed toys are no match for her. Drip is fully crate and house trained. She walks well on a leash, but needs some more practice to perfect her manners. Drip is a sweet girl who would love a family of her own to go on adventures. Could yours be the one she's been waiting for? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
