Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Wiley is a sweet little guy, about 10 pounds and 4 months old as of the end of January. He can be a little shy, although he is more outgoing than his brother Walter. They were part of an unwanted litter and by the time we were alerted to them, 4 of the 6 puppies had been given away. Wiley and Walter are adjusting nicely in their foster homes. They're incredibly sweet, playful, get along with other dogs, and have been gentle and loving with every human they've met. They've had their rabies vaccine, will be getting their last DAPP vaccine in the series of 3 on February 16th and are microchipped. They'll be scheduled for neuter under the rescue when age appropriate. We are looking for a home with another dog, and prefer a home with a fenced yard. Interested in adopting me? To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws. Please note: we generally do not adopt out of state (NJ).

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
