She adores everyone she meets and greets the world with a happy, brave attitude. Gayle loves running around outside and then curling up close to her person for a well-earned nap. Her ideal home would be pretty much any family that is looking for a puppy to add to their crew. Gayle gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is submissive with bigger pups. She has not been around cats or kids, but with her friendly demeanor and small size, she would likely get along with both. She’s a big fan of snacks and all kinds of toys, but her favorites are nylabones, squeaky toys, and small stuffies. Gayle is learning basic commands like “sit,” “outside,” and “crate,” and she’s making great progress with leash walking. She’s mostly house trained and does very well when let out regularly. She is fully crate trained and settles quickly, especially when she has soft blankets and big stuffies to cuddle with. Gayle is a confident, happy girl ready to bring lots of joy to her future home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
