Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Maya (A141167) is a 6-month-old GSD x Lab mix who weighed nearly 30 pounds on intake and is still growing! 02/12/26 This super smart little lady is Maya! Maya knows quite a few commands and is eager to show them off, especially for a treat. However, the one thing she hasnât been able to master is potty training, which led to her surrender. We hope that, starting fresh in a new home and with a patient owner who is willing to work with her, she will be able to master this in no time. Maya would also benefit from being kennel-trained. She was stated to LOVE people and really wants to be a good girl. She is a young pup who would benefit from working with a certified trainer and getting on a consistent routine. Maya was known to jump on people, likes to chew, and to be quite vocal. Her surrendering owner noted that they believed she has separation anxiety. We encourage her next owner to discuss with their vet on the best ways to help Miss Maya as she ages. Maya did grow up in a home with a cat, but it was noted that she did play roughly with the kitty (which not all cats might appreciate). She also was said to be playful with other dogs, but again like to rumble and tumble. It is important that appropriate introductions are made to help set her up for success! If you are interested in meeting Miss Maya Paya, please let us know!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Sheprador, a popular crossbreed resulting from the union of a German Shepherd Dog and a Labrador Retriever, embodies many desirable traits from both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
