Description
Dog Breed: Schnauzer. Bailey is a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer with a sweet, gentle soul and a mellow personality. He walks nicely on a leash and is already potty trained, which makes him an easy companion for daily life. Bailey seems to get along well with other dogs, and while he’s mostly calm and relaxed, his playful side is starting to shine more each day. Some of Bailey’s favorite things include going for walks, relaxing on the couch with his people, and running around the yard with a human friend. We think he’d likely enjoy having a canine buddy to play with, too. When Bailey first arrived, his legs were severely matted, which was very uncomfortable for him. Because of that, he can still be a little sensitive when his front legs are touched. With patience and understanding, he continues to gain confidence and trust. Bailey would do best in an adult-only home or one with older children who understand how to respect his space and read his cues. Bailey has a special soft spot for men and absolutely loves their company. Like most Schnauzers, he does not shed but will need a forever family committed to regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
