Description
Dog Breed: Golden Retriever (long coat). Adoption Fee: $699. Looking for your next furry BFF? We don’t have perfect dogs — but we do have dogs who are perfect for the right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at Application – Carolina Poodle Rescue Date into Rescue: 2/16/2026 Reason for being in rescue: Piper was recently retired from her breeder and is ready to start life as a pet all on her own - no more babies for Piper, she wants to be the baby. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted on vet exam - our vet did not that Piper has definitely had more than one litter. During her spay, she also had her teeth cleaned. No extractions! Weight: 64 lb Height: 22 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Piper is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Piper has a negative heartworm test. Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? First preference will be given to homes with a physically fenced in yard for Piper. Piper is a known escape artist and will need a family dedicated to keeping her adventures to a minimum. What kind of home would be best for me? Piper adores people and would do wonderfully in a home with kids, as well as other pets. While she enjoys companionship, she does not require another dog in the home and is perfectly comfortable being independent. Piper requires a securely fenced yard. Although she has not attempted to escape in her current environment, her previous owner noted that she can be quite the escape artist. If she manages to get through a gate or opening, she tends to go on her own adventure and may not return right away. Because of this, a secure fence and attentive supervision are important to keep her safe. As Piper transitions into a new home, she will need time to adjust to her surroundings and routine. She will benefit from basic house training and should initially be kept on a leash outdoors to help guide her, reinforce boundaries, and set her up for success. What is my personality like? Piper is everything you’d expect from a classic Golden Retriever. At 3 years old, she is friendly, outgoing, and loves being part of the action. She has a happy, social personality and enjoys making new friends wherever she goes. One of Piper’s favorite things in the world is water — whether it’s a kiddie pool, lake, or sprinkler, she’s always ready to splash and have fun. With patience, consistency, and structure, Piper is sure to settle in and become a wonderful companion. Overall, Piper is a loving, cheerful dog looking for an active home that can match her playful Golden Retriever spirit. How do I act when I first meet new people? Piper does not meet a stranger and loves all people, especially if they bring a snack along. Other tips and tidbits: We were not given Piper's actual birthdate but simply told "she is 3." We're celebrating her birthdate as 02/16/23. The real day to celebrate will be the day you take her home and make her a cherished companion instead of a breeding machine. That will be the day to celebrate! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive — and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Overview:
The Golden Retriever, a beloved breed originating from the Scottish Highlands in the mid-19th century, was developed for retrieving game from land and water. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs known for their striking golden-colored coats, ranging from cream to dark gold, which are dense and water-repellent. Their gentle eyes and friendly smiles are as characteristic as their feathered tails and strong, well-proportioned bodies. Temperamentally, Golden Retrievers are celebrated for their amiable, intelligent, and devoted nature, making them exceptionally patient and tolerant companions. This makes them superb family dogs, typically great with children and other pets, though their need for space and exercise means they are generally less suited for apartment living. While generally robust, they are prone to certain health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and eye conditions, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their long-term well-being.
