Foster location: Foster Home in Greensboro NC Special Needs? Joy is on a weight loss journey right now and will need to continue it in her new home. She is doing well! Joy is allergic to cats. Weight: 19 lb now and should be around 12 Height: 12 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Joy must have a consistent exercise plan and structured weight-loss routine to help her feel her best. Regular walks are something she truly enjoys, and a home committed to keeping her active will be important for her long-term health. She could live as an only dog, but having another friendly dog in the home may help her confidence and encourage more movement and play, which would support her fitness goals. Joy cannot live in a home with cats due to allergies, and her diet will need to be monitored carefully, both for weight management and allergy awareness. While she should not live with young children, she would be fine with respectful visiting children who understand how to behave around dogs. What is my personality like? Joy was purchased at just six weeks old and spent her life with older adults, so her world has been fairly quiet and limited in experience. Because of that, she may take a little time to adjust—but once she feels safe, her true personality shines. She is sweet, soft-natured, and has never shown aggression. She has never nipped or bitten; she simply needs patience and reassurance as she builds confidence. She can occasionally startle at sudden loud noises, but she settles quickly when her people remain calm. Joy is very intuitive and reads her environment well—she takes cues from the energy around her. In a steady, relaxed home, she does beautifully. She is good with both men and women. Joy has received professional training and is house-trained and leash-trained. She can be slightly anxious in the car, though she does not get motion sick. She hasn’t quite learned that furniture is for lounging, but we suspect that once she understands, she would happily curl up beside you for a cozy cuddle on the couch. With patience, structure, and a calm, loving home, Joy will blossom into a devoted, affectionate companion. How do I act when I first meet new people? Joy is a gentle girl who can be a little timid when first meeting new people or entering a new environment. Other tips and tidbits: Joy is CKC registered. Her actual birthdate is 2/13/2024. Please note that as a purebred Pomeranian, Joy will shed. She is not hypoallergenic at all, this breed simply is not. They are happy dogs with a deep affection for their owners. We do not know how Joy is with cats. Her foster home does not have cats. We know Joy has never been around children. A home with respectful older children over 12 is a requirement. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
