Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Hi there… my name is Little Man, and I’m a smaller hound mix with a big heart tucked into my 30-pound body. I’m a bit shy and nervous, especially around men, so I like to take my time getting to know new people. But once I choose you? Oh boy — I hope you’re ready for lots of couch snuggles and endless kisses (because yes, I will remind you how much I love them!). I may be little, but I pack a whole lot of personality into my size. I have the softest, silkiest black coat and some very expressive eyebrows that tell you exactly how I’m feeling at all times. Most of the time, I’m thinking about… you guessed it… snuggling on the couch. Walks are still pretty scary for me right now, and I don’t like going much past the mailbox. I am getting braver every day, though! Because of this, a fenced-in yard is a must so I can feel safe while I explore at my own pace. I’m a very good boy in my crate and do great during the day and all night. I’d also really love to have another dog in the house — I enjoy playing with my two current doggy housemates and feel much more confident when I have a furry friend around, especially when my humans are at work. If you’re patient, gentle, and looking for a loyal little shadow who lives for snuggles, I might just be your guy. I promise — once I love you, I love you with my whole heart The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
