Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Little Man may only weigh about 30 pounds, but he carries a lifetime of loyalty, sweetness, and devotion in his compact frame. This handsome hound mix is a bit shy when meeting new people and can be especially cautious around men. He likes to take his time building trust, but once you've earned a place in his heart, you'll have a best friend for life. When Little Man feels safe, his affectionate side shines. He's a champion cuddler who believes there is no such thing as too many couch snuggles or kisses. If you're looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be near his favorite person, Little Man is ready to fill that role. His silky black coat and expressive eyebrows make him impossible to resist. One glance at his sweet face, and you'll know exactly what he's thinking—usually something along the lines of, "Can we cuddle now?" Little Man is still gaining confidence in the world around him. Walks can be intimidating, and he's currently most comfortable staying close to home. Because of this, a securely fenced yard is required, allowing him to explore and build confidence at his own pace in a safe environment. He's fully crate trained and does wonderfully both during the day and overnight. Little Man also thrives with canine companionship and would love a home with another friendly, confident dog. Having a furry friend around helps him feel secure and gives him a playmate when his humans are away. Little Man is looking for a patient, understanding family willing to let him settle in on his own timeline. In return, he'll reward you with unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the kind of bond that only comes from earning the trust of a truly special dog. If you're searching for a gentle companion who will love you with his whole heart, Little Man may be the perfect addition to your family. The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
