Description
Dog Breed: Shiba Inu / Rat Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $685. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 9 mos. (as of 2-26-26) Weight: 17 lbs. (as of 2-26-26) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. If those sweet wet eyes don't win your heart, the curly little tail will do the job. Meet Manook! This sweet bundle of love will make you smile every morning and every night without even trying. At just 17 pounds, this tri‑color (predominantly white) Shiba/Rat Terrier mix brings together the best of both breeds: clever, affectionate, a little goofy, and always ready for fun. He’s acclimated beautifully to his current foster home and has taken to family life like he’s been doing it forever. Manook has a sister named Sheba who is also available for adoption right here at SOS. Despite his young age, Manook has a wonderfully even‑tempered personality. He’s affectionate, eager to please, and loves being part of the action, whether that’s squeaky‑toy time, playgroup with other dogs, or curling up with his curly tale for a good cuddle. He’s a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and happily coexists with dogs of all sizes. He’s also cat‑savvy (see pic). Manook is coming along nicely with house training and still learning leash etiquette. He's fully crate‑trained and content to amuse himself for up to eight hours at a time. He’s playful but not over the top; currently he's enjoying an hour or two of daily activity, especially when other dogs are around. He thrives with routine, affection, and opportunities to play. Are you ready for our little man Manook to join your family? Note on Manook Shiba: This pup enjoys being around other dogs, both in play and as a friendly coexister. He does best if fed and given high value food separately from other dogs as we have noticed some mild resource guarding, which is a common breed trait in Shiba Inus (what we believe to be his breed mix). An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
