Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Balto has come so very far! We are happy to report that treating him aggressively for parasites is making a huge difference, as is spoiling him with lots of attention and love from the volunteers. He does not feel comfortable in the loud shelter, and a foster home would be welcome for this boy, who came to us as an extremely shy stray. We are so proud of the way he has accepted the attention being showered upon him, as well as his ability to adapt to leash walking and playtime with other dogs. He does enjoy laying outside in his kennel run and soaking up the surprisingly wam March sun this week! Ready to adopt? The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential.
