Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. NEW RESCUE! Hi, I am Pardo, a handsome 9 month old Shepherd mix with a shiny black coat and an even brighter personality. I may be part Kelpie but we don’t know for sure. I am neutered , vaccinated, and microchipped and weigh around 30 pounds. I am a smart pup who already knows sit and shake. I am both crate trained, and potty trained. I am eager to please and get so excited for treats and toys making me a fun and motivated companion for continued training. I love walks, but I am still working on my leash skills. I will benefit from someone being patient who can help me polish up my walking manners. I have loved every human I have met. I don’t currently live with kids, but I met a 2 year old and did fine with her. I do like to jump, so super young ones may get knocked over on accident. Have I mentioned, I love dogs! Big, small, old or young. I am not picky. I may be a little energetic for the old ones, but I am never mean. My foster mom takes me to doggie daycare and I love it so much! My foster home doesn’t have any cats, but most likely I would do okay with them. I am a lover of everyone and everything! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
