Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $0. Adult Spayed Female 43 lbs. Has done well meeting other dogs at the shelter Did well meeting a cat, wanted to play No known experience with kids Josie is a friendly, fun, and spirited dog who brings lots of energy and joy wherever she goes. She loves going for walks and runs, and while she can pull a bit when she gets excited, she’s very treat-motivated and eager to learn, which makes her a great candidate for continued training. Josie especially loves playing fetch and racing around the yard to get her zoomies out. With her playful personality and enthusiasm for life, Josie is sure to bring plenty of adventure and smiles to her future home. Josie's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous member of our community! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
