She can happily play for hours, but when playtime is over, she’s more than content to curl up on the couch—or even in your lap if you’ll let her! Steph is looking for a family who will support her as she adapts to her new life and have fun with her forever. Steph gets along beautifully with both humans and other animals—she truly never meets a stranger. She’s always thrilled to meet other dogs and hopes they’ll play with her. Steph has lived with a dog-savvy cat and wanted nothing more than to be friends. She is excited to meet new people and loves to spend time with dog-savvy kids who enjoy playing with her. You may notice a theme: play is Steph’s love language, and she’s always down for a game of fetch or tug! Steph is house trained and has been working hard on her crate training. She’s also working on her leash manners and is excited to find a family who will take her on walks and other adventures to help her keep building her skills. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
