Description
Dog Breed: Queensland Heeler (medium coat). A5755005 Billy is a 6-month-old male Queensland Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) with a stunning red merle coat and beautifully frosted white fur accented by a bold orange patch. Weighing 44 lbs as of February 10, Billy was found as a stray on February 9 and is still just a baby trying to navigate the overwhelming shelter environment.❤️ When first seen, Billy was lying quietly in his kennel, looking a little unsure — a shelter is no place for a young, intelligent working-breed pup. He was initially shy around the camera but quickly gained confidence and came forward with gentle encouragement. His soft expression and handsome coloring make him unforgettable. Billy just needs reassurance, structure, and a loving home where he can grow into the confident, loyal companion he’s meant to be. -6 months old, male, 44 lbs -Queensland Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog), red merle coat -Found as a stray on 02/09/2026 -Young and shy in the shelter -Gained confidence with gentle encouragement -Beautiful frosted white fur with orange markings -Soft expression and sweet demeanor -Smart, active breed that needs engagement -Ready for a patient home to help him blossom BILLY’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/CTL For more information, contact volunteer Lor at lorunitedhopeforanimals Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. Breed overview
Overview:
The Texas Heeler is a dynamic crossbreed, originating from the deliberate pairing of the Australian Cattle Dog and the Australian Shepherd, predominantly in, as its name suggests, Texas. This intelligent and energetic canine typically boasts a medium build, with a strong, athletic frame well-suited for an active lifestyle. Their coat can vary widely in color and pattern, often displaying the striking merle or mottled markings of their parent breeds. Temperamentally, Texas Heelers are known for their loyalty, eagerness to please, and high energy levels, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation. Due to their herding instincts and need for space, they are generally not suitable for apartment living and thrive in homes with yards. While generally robust, they can inherit health concerns common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and certain eye conditions. Prospective owners should be prepared for a dedicated and engaging canine partner.
