Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Searching for a tiny ball of scruff to brighten your day just by looking at all that cuteness? Look no further than Mona! Mona came to us as a very scared, semi-feral pup, but she has grown so much thanks to all the love she is receiving in her foster home. She is improving every day with potty training, actively choosing to go outside or use her pee pads, and she loves the company of other her other small dog foster sibling. Once she feels safe and warms up she will ask for pets and cuddles, but she is also very happy to spend time on her own. Mona is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
