Tracker is a 40-lb male hound/cattle dog mix with a huge heart and an even bigger love for people. He’s an affectionate, happy dog who absolutely thrives on human attention. Tracker is a very active dog and needs an owner/family who can give him the exercise and stimulation he needs to thrive. Since Tracker loves to play, run, and explore, he needs a home with a large yard and a secure wooden fence. While people are his favorite, he gets along great with other dogs and enjoys playtime with canine friends. Tracker has quite a story — he was hit by a car and nearly lost his life, but he made an incredible recovery. Now he’s fully healed and ready to start the next chapter of his life with a loving family. About Tracker: • 40 lb male 2 years old • Neutered • Heartworm negative • Up to date on all shots • Potty trained • Will kennel when needed (though it’s not his favorite) • Very loving and active dog so no apartments please! Tracker is truly a special dog who deserves a second chance and a forever home. Interested in adopting Tracker? Please contact: steffeniegaprescuegmail

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
