Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (medium coat). Mater (A141437) is a Siberian Husky x Great Pyrenees mix who weighed 50.3 pounds on intake! 03/10/26 This stunning fellow is Mater! Mater was previously used to living outdoors in a large kennel, but has been getting used to indoor living. His surrendering owner stated he is doing well at not going potty indoors, but may still need continued work as he adjusts. He would also benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer so he could learn a trick or two! Mater was also known to be a bit of a digger and chewer when outdoors and could be vocal at times. Mater is a very smart boy and is looking for a home that can keep him both mentally and physically stimulated. He was noted to have a high prey drive and should not go to a home with smaller critters that he may be tempted to chase. He was stated to do well with other dogs if appropriate introductions were made. Mater was said to do well with children but can be initially leery of new people. However, treats are a great way to his heart. If you are interested in meeting Mater, please let us know!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Pyrenees Husky, a captivating crossbreed of the Great Pyrenees and Siberian Husky, originated from a desire to blend the best traits of both parent breeds. These striking dogs typically boast a medium to large build, featuring a dense, often bi-colored coat that can range from a fluffy double coat to a more medium-length texture, with striking blue or multi-colored eyes being common. Temperamentally, they are known for being intelligent, affectionate, and generally good-natured, often exhibiting the Great Pyrenees' calm loyalty combined with the Husky's playful energy. While they can be wonderful family companions due to their gentle disposition and patience with children, their size and exercise requirements make them less suitable for cramped apartment living. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health considerations common to the parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, emphasizing the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups for these magnificent dogs.
