Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $350. Thumbs is a new arrival and we are still learning about him but this boy is starting the search for his forever family. His foster family thinks "Toby" suits him a bit better. This handsome fellow is around 1 year old and 48lbs. So far his foster family has observed that Thumbs gives High Fives, seems to be house trained and is perfectly happy to spend time in the crate. He likes to nuzzle his nose into your side and then shimmy his tushie up to snuggle up on your chest at cuddle time. Thumbs is sweet, gentle, and intuitive. He enjoys playing outside in the fenced yard. The only toys that have caught his attention are the ball and elk antler but he is still learning about the good life. So far he has been respectful and kind to the kids, cats, and dogs in his foster family. If Thumbs sounds like a good match for you please email us at almosthome4dogsyahoo to get an application. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
