Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat). Who is this handsome fellow? It’s Patrick! Patrick is estimated to be around 4 months old and is a mellow and loveable guy. He is a gentle soul who is learning to trust. He has all the qualities to make him a wonderful companion for someone looking for an easygoing and loyal buddy. Patrick weighs about 27lbs. We think that he will be around 40-50lbs when fully grown. Patrick was found as a stray in rural Modesto and brought to the local shelter. He came in with his 3 siblings - Ireland, Fiona, and another brother who was adopted from the shelter. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, the puppies found themselves on the euthanasia list. We are so happy to be able to save their lives, and they have been adjusting well to life in foster care. They are looking for individual homes so that they can get the one-on-one training and socialization that they need. Patrick is the calmest of the three puppies, but he still loves to play! His favorite games are wrestling with Fiona or playing tug-of-war. He’s also content to settle down beside you and keep you company while you’re pulling weeds in the yard . Patrick needs a family committed to continuing his basic manners training. Patrick has done well living with a small dog, and he seems like he would enjoy having a dog his size to play with in his new home. He also would love a dog buddy who can mentor him and help him gain confidence. We haven't seen him around cats, but he may do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Patrick could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Patrick hasn’t had any accidents in the house, but he may have some accidents while adjusting to a new home. He settles down and sleeps quietly in his crate all night, and if he’s in his crate during the day, he’ll whine and give a little bark when he wants to go outside. Patrick is used to having his foster mom home during the day, so he would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate him to being home alone. Does Patrick sound like your kind of guy? If so, submit an application today! Patrick's adoption fee is $350. Apply to adopt here! form.jotform/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (.yolospca) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. Breed overview
Overview:
The Sheprador, a popular crossbreed resulting from the union of a German Shepherd Dog and a Labrador Retriever, embodies many desirable traits from both parent breeds. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the intelligence of the German Shepherd with the Labrador's friendly disposition, these dogs typically boast a medium to large build with a dense, weather-resistant coat that can range in color. Physically, they often exhibit the Shepherd’s strong bone structure and the Lab’s kind eyes. Temperamentally, Shepradors are generally intelligent, loyal, and trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
