Description
Dog Breed: Dutch Shepherd (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsdgmail) for more information about this pet. Feather is a gorgeous sable Dutch Shepherd puppy. He is friendly and affectionate with people and has shown us just how thankful he is to have a second chance at life. While at the shelter, Feather did well when a dog -to-dog interaction evaluation was conducted with another his size (**Please keep in mind that dogs that pass the evaluation process does not necessarily mean they will get along with every single dog. Dogs and their evaluations are based on the chemistry that they have with the particular dog they are with.) As he settles into life at the Ranch and gets comfortable with his new routine, we’ll work on finding him a compatible playmate. Please stay tuned as we get to know Feather better and watch his story unfold. More information will be posted as it becomes available. Please visit .coastalgsrsd/to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact Jordan via email at jkeiltycox or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online application. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $350 to $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers. We show our dogs at adoption events every weekend! Check our our website to see where we'll be next! Breed overview
Holland Shepherd
A.K.A.: Dutch Shepherd, Dutchie, Hollandse Herder, Herder
Overview:
The Hollandse Herdershond, or Dutch Shepherd, is a versatile and intelligent breed originating from the Netherlands, where they were traditionally used by shepherds and farmers for herding and guarding livestock. Physically, they are a medium-sized dog with a powerful, muscular build, typically weighing between 50-70 pounds and standing 21-25 inches tall. Their coats come in three varieties: short-haired, long-haired, and wire-haired, all displaying the breed's distinctive brindle pattern in shades of gold or silver. Temperamentally, Dutch Shepherds are known for their strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to their families. They are highly trainable and excel in various dog sports like obedience, agility, and protection work. While generally good with children, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for active families with experience in dog ownership, rather than first-time owners or those in apartment settings. Like many active breeds, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term health.
