Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Beauty arrived at the shelter with a large, open wound on her head. During surgery, it was discovered that the wound had been stitched before. Someone, somewhere, cared enough to try to help her. What happened after that, we may never know. She was found in Suitland, and we can’t help but wonder if someone is still missing her. Please share Beauty. You never know who might be looking. What we do know is who Beauty is today. She’s a staff favorite, a true love bug who leans in close and gives the sweetest kisses. She’s not a dog who rushes into things. She takes her time getting to know you. But once you’ve earned her trust, you are hers. Completely, as you can see with one of her favorite caretakers. Beauty asks for one simple thing. Look past her kennel presence. She barks. Shelter life is hard, and it doesn’t show her at her best. She needs someone willing to see beyond that moment and give her the chance she deserves. In playgroup, she’s social and communicates well with other dogs, giving appropriate corrections when needed. She knows how to exist in the world, she just needs a person to stand beside her in it.
