Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. Meet me Saturday 4/4 at the Pleasanton Farmer's Market, in Delucchi Park, from 9 am - 1 pm! (4501 First Street, Pleasanton). Def Leppard is a snuggler but also plays hard; she likes people but takes time to be comfortable being picked up. She is a "let's play" starter, playing keep-away or stealing her sisters' toys! Def Leppard has a good appetite. She loves to play indoors or outdoors, has been socialized with big dogs while in foster care and is learning 'sit' from her foster caregiver! Def Leppard and her sisters were transferred to Valley Humane on 3/6 from Oakland Animal Services. She weighs 5.8 pounds. Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption? Complete our Adoption Inquiry Form (copy and paste the following URL into your browser address bar) or call us 925-426-8656. We are looking forward to hearing from you! valleyhumane/adopt/adoption/

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
