Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown, likely yes Good with kids: Yes Crate trained: Unknown House Trained: Unknown Ken is a sweet, submissive guy who takes a few minutes to warm up, but once he does, he is all yours! He has a fairly low energy level and would love to cuddle on the couch or walk around the neighborhood, checking out all the smells on the way. He spent his initial time in rescue in a boarding facility so he will need a patient family to show him what it's like to live in a home. Ken is gentle and loves other dogs and kids. He would likely do well with cats too, although he has not met any so far. Ken is eager to please and has waited so patiently for a family to call his own. Ken will need to work on house and crate training, but with his willingness to learn and please his people, he should pick things up fast. He has not had much experience with walking on a leash, but with a little practice, he will be a pro in no time. Ken has been waiting patiently for a family of his own to love. Could yours be the one he's been looking for? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
