He’s a mid-energy puppy who loves to wrestle with other dogs but will often sneak away for a quick nap before re-entering the play zone. Tucker will thrive in most any home where he can get the love, encouragement, and structure that help a young dog grow into an amazing companion. Tucker is a social butterfly who loves everyone. He runs right up to new people to say hello and get his belly rubbed. Tucker is still learning his manners and would do best with dog-savvy kids who are used to puppy antics. He absolutely loves other dogs and greets them with clumsy baby dog exuberance. Tucker hasn’t met cats yet, but he’s a laid-back dude who would likely do well with them. While he isn’t a natural athlete and often trips over himself, he loves to run and play with other dogs and chew on his toys. Tucker has been working hard on his puppy manners. He settles into his crate quickly, only sometimes whining for a minute before he quiets down and goes to sleep. Tucker has also been working on his house training, though he is still a young puppy and needs time, patience, and consistency to perfect his skills. He likes to walk on his leash and hopes that his new family will help him perfect his leash skills so he can go on adventures and make lots of new friends. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
