Description
Dog Breed: Pug / Dachshund / Mixed. Lily was surrendered to NorthStar when her owner became hill and could no longer care for her dogs. Although she is almost 9 years old, Lily is in good health, energetic and house-trained. She is a good listener who loves long walks and car rides. She is currently up to date on her shots, but is due for several vaccines in May - we'll ensure she receives those. Lily has lived with another dog and is currently in temporary foster with a Lab and Golden Retriever. On walks she may bark at other dogs out of curiosity. She's not aggressive, just loud. Lily is crate trained and enjoys spending time in her individual crate even when given free roam of the house. Overall, she is a very sweet senior girl just looking for a new place to hang her leash! If you are interested in meeting Lily, please complete an adoption application at .northstarpets and ask for her by name!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Daug, a delightful hybrid resulting from the cross between a Dachshund and a Pug, offers a unique blend of its charming parent breeds. Originating from designer breed programs aimed at combining desirable traits, the Daug typically inherits a compact, sturdy build, often with a slightly elongated body reminiscent of the Dachshund and the distinctive wrinkled face and curled tail of the Pug. Their coats vary but are generally short and easy to maintain. Temperamentally, Daugs are known for being affectionate, playful, and often quite clownish, making them excellent companions. They tend to be good with families, including children, and adapt well to apartment living due to their moderate exercise needs. However, like both parent breeds, they can be prone to certain health issues such as respiratory problems (brachycephalic syndrome from the Pug side) and back issues (intervertebral disc disease from the Dachshund side), requiring owners to be diligent about their care and regular veterinary check-ups.
