TEX NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Tex Best Guess for Breed: Poodle Mix Best Guess for Age: 10 months as of April 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 26 lbs as of April 2026 - he might have just a bit more to grow Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Shelter. Needs a forever home! Tex is Looking For: A forever family! Tex landed in the shelter through no fault of his own, and he is now looking for a place he can finish growing up. Since he is a growing boy, he will need plenty of walks, and time around doggy friends so he can learn to be a good canine citizen. He will also need near daily brushing at home as well as regular professional grooming appointments to keep his coat looking and feeling great. He would love plenty of toys and treats as well as a nice couch to snuggle up on and watch the latest episodes of all of your favorite shows (just make sure to catch him up first!) Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
