Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Miniature Pinscher / Mixed. EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about Bear! He is definitely EXTRA! Extra hugs, extra pets, extra kisses, extra belly rubs, extra play time, extra attention, EXTRA LOVE! Bear is a 1-year-old, 15-pound small mixed breed. We believe dauschund, min pin, and chihuahua are his predominant breeds. He’s a little guy with a BIG personality! Bear’s past is somewhat of a mystery, but every day he reveals new things about himself. He can be nervous and scared when meeting new people, especially men, so it may take him a minute to calm down and warm up. Bear will attach to his person quickly and would be a wonderful companion for an active owner who doesn’t mind walking, throwing a ball or running around. He loves playing with other dogs and would do great in a home with a dog friend who has an equal amount of energy. He can be eager and overwhelming with small children, but older kids would be fine. In fact, he would probably love one for a best friend. Bear is a fast learner and is progressing on house breaking, crate training, and daily walks. He loves to be in the midst of activity but also cuddles close when it’s time for bed. You can apply for Bear today through Paws Across Pittsburgh, KL 16182, at pawsacrosspittsburgh/adopt.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Doxie-Pin, a charming designer breed, is a delightful mix of the feisty Miniature Pinscher and the long-bodied Dachshund. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, these small to medium-sized dogs typically sport a sleek, short coat that can vary in color, often inheriting the Dachshund's elongated body with the Min Pin's alert expression and strong, athletic build. Temperamentally, Doxie-Pins are known for being energetic, intelligent, and often quite playful, though they can also exhibit a degree of stubbornness from their Dachshund lineage. They are generally good with families and can adapt well to apartment living provided they receive sufficient daily exercise and mental stimulation. Owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) due to their longer backs, and patellar luxation, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
