Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle dog mix, female Welcome petite little Indy from Tulare County Animal Services. Another no brainer heeler dumped in a Central Valley field somewhere. Indy is a 1.5 year old, 30lb, longer-haired Queensland heeler mix. Here is what her foster has to report: Indy is super sweet. Happy all the time. Her tail never stops wagging. She has been staying in the house and sleeps quietly in a crate all night. No noise and no accidents. She is about 90% house trained, she takes her cues from the older dogs. She loves to play with the other dogs. She is not aggressive but also not a push over. She is tiny but mighty! She loves people and cuddles on the couch. Comes when called. She has seen the resident cats and went to investigate but came right back when called - same with the goats and sheep. Typical heeler, she is never far from your side. She has enough energy to make her fun but not so much that it is overwhelming. She has a nice off-switch. Absolutely lovely little girl! Indy is spayed and UTD on vaccines. Indy is in Reedley, CA (near Fresno) More photos and updates: .facebook/.cchdrescue/ search in posts and photo albums. Interested in Indy? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
