Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Sharky had the BEST time on his day trip!! He is such a lovable ham and he behaved perfectly. Jumped right in the car with no hesitation and got an adorable whipped cream mustache from his pup cup. We took a long walk to Central Park and he was great on the leash, fine with bikes, cars, runners, etc. He was interested in dogs walking past but didn't display any reactivity toward them. We hung out in the grass at the park and he couldn't have been happier to chill and roll in the grass and get pets from everyone walking by. He has a prey drive but not extreme...just wanted to chase a squirrel that didn't run until we were a foot away. To meet this sweet guy, please go to yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
