Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher (short coat). Gummy Bear is squishy cute boy with lots of love. We are not 100% what he is a mix of, we see Miniature Pinscher, chihuahua, Kelpie, Lancashire heeler in him. He has a blue tinted coat that is why we think some chihuahua. Gummy is a sweet boy that loves to jump in your lap and love you. He takes a little bit to sniff you out and make sure you are find but with a little food smells on your hands he will be your buddy. He will need a fenced yard (not an electric one) or someone that likes lots of walks because he does have 2 yr old playful energy. He will let you know when there is stranger danger. He would like to sleep with you or under your bed. He is housetrained if you get him out enough. We have no idea how he is around kids but since he jumps on adults I would say older kids are better since he does not realize he is smothering you. We have not had him around cats so do not know how that will go either. He is good with other dogs and wants to play with them. Gummy Bear is neutered and current on his vaccinations. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $000 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
