Description
Dog Breed: Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 600. Meet Rascal, an incredibly sweet (and fluffy) little pup with a heart as soft as his coat. His mom was a Golden Retriever mix and his dad a Great Pyrenees mix, and he inherited the best of both—gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully easygoing. He’s already working hard on crate training and potty training and making great progress he will be over 50lbs. Rascal is a quiet soul who rarely barks unless he’s playing, and he loves nothing more than curling up for a good snuggle. He was born around 3/1 He does beautifully with other dogs of all sizes—from tiny 10‑pounders to big 80‑pound buddies—and he’s just as happy entertaining himself with his toys. He loves everyone he meets, kids and adults alike. With his calm nature and loving personality, Rascal is ready to find a family of his own. Whether you’re hoping for a snuggle buddy or a playful companion, this sweet pup is ready to grow up right by your side. We are looking for active families who are home often and can provide a structured, physically and mentally stimulating environment for Rowdy so he can grow up to be the best adult fur friend ever. Kids 6 and older in adoptive families are preferred. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $600 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Golden Pyrenees, a delightful cross between the Golden Retriever and the Great Pyrenees, offers the best of both worlds. Originating from intentional breeding to combine desirable traits, this hybrid typically sports a lush, medium-to-long coat in shades of gold, cream, or white, coupled with a sturdy, athletic build. Physically, they are large dogs, inheriting the Great Pyrenees' substantial size and the Golden Retriever's friendly expression. Their temperament is a harmonious blend of the Golden's eagerness to please and the Pyrenees' gentle, watchful nature, making them incredibly loyal, affectionate, and generally good with children and other pets. While highly adaptable, their size and need for moderate exercise mean they are best suited for families with ample space, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia or certain heart conditions, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
