Description

Dog Breed: Samoyed (long coat). Delightful Little Mama MEET LILY! The gorgeous Ms. Lily is an absolute doll baby, yet she is the mother of our other floof Enzo. Lily and Enzo came to Tara’s House when their dear owner passed away and no family members could take them in. They didn’t have to wait long for some breed-experienced fosters to step up though, and any sadness the pair may have had for losing their person is seemingly behind them and it’s been a joy to see their personalities come to light. Lily is 4 years young and weighs 44 lbs. She has been described as running the household. She hops on the couch when it’s time for pets or slips into the open crate with Enzo for some puppy snuggles. She loves walking on their sniffaris, has free roam of the living space, is very gentle and loves rolling around with toys. She keeps checking in on Enzo and is the emotional glue of the family. She has become more and more playful as the days unfold. Lily sleeps well in an open crate or on a dog bed from 9:30pm - 7:00am. She is amazing overall, truly an independent and chill girl. Excellent on leash, gentle in the house, and respectful with the other dogs. She is fully allowed to free roam, but often goes in the open crate to nap. She loves hanging around with people, will follow you to help with any chores you may have, and continues to earn an A+ on her behaviour chart every single day. She is truly a sweet pea. Samoyeds as a breed are social yet have a strong prey drive. We think her perfect home will have breed experience (their coats require a lot of maintenance!) and have another friendly dog in it. She can be adopted with Enzo but it’s not required if there’s another resident dog that will treat her like the Queen she is. Because of the natural hunter instinct, no cats or small animals (she has a squirrel hunting hobby!) A fenced yard would be ideal so she can show off her moves off leash, and her adopters should enjoy concerts because she can sing the song of her people! Lily’s adoption donation fee is $500, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for her by filling out our online application, which is found on our website .tarashouse. Please email us at infotarashouse with any questions.

Overview:

The Samoyed, a stunning breed originating from the snowy plains of Siberia, is renowned for its iconic "Sammy smile" and luxurious, dense white coat. Historically bred by the Samoyede people for herding reindeer, hunting, and pulling sleds, they possess a strong, athletic build and beautiful dark, almond-shaped eyes that contrast with their pristine fur. Known for their friendly and gentle temperament, Samoyeds are incredibly social dogs that thrive on human companionship, often displaying playful and mischievous antics. They are generally excellent with children and other pets, making them a wonderful addition to active families. While their adaptability allows them to adjust to apartment living if provided with ample exercise, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation necessitate a commitment to daily walks, playtime, and training. Potential owners should be aware of their proneness to certain health conditions like hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and bloat. Overall, the Samoyed is a joyful, intelligent, and affectionate companion for those prepared to meet their grooming and exercise needs.
