Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Jasmine is now in foster care. We think Jasmine is settling into foster life just beautifully! Her foster mom shared some observations about Jasmine. Jasmine is 10 months old. She weighs about 40 pounds. Jasmine may act brave at first, but she's really a sweet, sensitive girl who just wants to snuggle with her people and play with other dogs. She's incredibly smart, too—she's already learned **"sit"** and **"kennel up,"** is doing great with her crate, and even stayed clean while her foster mom was away. For such a young pup, Jasmine has an amazing off switch. She's happy to play, but she's just as happy curling up for cuddles. This adorable girl is proving every day what a wonderful companion she'll make. We can't wait to watch her confidence continue to grow—and we know her forever family is going to be so lucky. She is available for adoption. Please go to friendsofcampbellcounty for adoption details. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
