Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Cattle Dog, female 1 year old Gretta is a 1 year old, 30lb cattle dog mix. Gretta has been here at the rescue ranch since early June. She’s grown leaps and bounds from when she first arrived. Now more than ever she is ready to find her person and forever pack. Heeler people, where you at? Gretta’s super power is she’s light as a feather on leash. If you remember when she first arrived, she had no idea how to walk on one. She can now teach a masterclass. She’s quite comical too with her signature move of rolling over for belly rubs be it from a stand still or comin’ in hot sprint…FLOP. Gretta is dog social and looking for a training-forward person or family that’ll continue to build her exposure and positive association to new experiences and domestic dog things. Namely, how to lead a spoiled life of an indoor / outdoor dog, the joys of plush toys, and people to run and hike with her…but above all, someone who will scratch her belly until the end of time. She loves her wire crate and she is quiet as a mouse through the night. Extremely fastidious girl! No accidents! Gretta is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on core vaccines. Gretta is in Templeton, CA More photos and updates: .facebook/.cchdrescue/ search in posts and photo albums. Interested in Gretta? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
