Dog Breed: Unknown breed (long coat). Meet Hercules! Hercules is a handsome 2-year-old Aussiedoodle looking for his forever home! This sweet boy is full of love and always ready for his next adventure. Whether you're heading out for a hike, exploring a new trail, or simply enjoying a walk around the neighborhood, Hercules is happy to be by your side. He is very treat motivated making him a great candidate for continued training and learning new tricks. Hercules gets along well with both cats and dogs and has a friendly personality that wins people over quickly. If you're looking for a loyal companion, an adventure partner, and a new best friend, Hercules may be the perfect addition to your family! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. If the dog is not old enough, you will be given a voucher for Animal Medical Center in Emmett to cover the cost of the spay or neuter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, please call ahead to schedule a time for a Meet & Greet so we can ensure a dog handler is available to show you the dog or dogs you are interested in. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
