Meet Ash, a handsome Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier with a loving personality, excellent manners, and a loyal heart. Neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home, Ash is leash trained, crate trained, house trained, doggy-door trained, and does wonderfully in the car. He is intelligent, obedient, even-tempered, and knows basic commands such as sit and wait, patiently waiting for meals and treats like the gentleman he is. Ash loves toys, playtime, car rides, and spending time with his people, and he's just as happy curling up as a lap dog for cuddles. Friendly and affectionate with adults and children, he also gets along well with cats. One of his favorite jobs is alerting his family when someone is at the door, making him a great little watchdog. While Ash loves people, he would do best as the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the attention he deserves. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
