Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Ollie is a 4-5 year old, neutered pit bull mix. Unfortunately, he recently unexpectedly lost his owner and we are now trying to find a good home for him. He is a very sweet dog who enjoys playing with his toys and being with his people. He is very protective and will need a home that is fit for his needs. His owner found Ollie on his property and believed that he came from an abusive past, possibly a dog fighting ring. Due to this past, Ollie is best suited to a home with someone who is willing to work with him on his behavioral challenges and should be the only pet. He should not be in a home with kids. Ollie does have a history of aggression towards other animals and bite history. We understand that Ollie’s challenges are going to require the right person and situation. We are being cautious with his rehoming needs as he deserves to go somewhere safe and that is our goal for him. **** Breed: Pit bull mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2199644&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
